My Life’s Mistake

Walking down the desolate street
In the cold winter air
I take a sharp breath in
Finally, I have found some solace in the quiet night.

I allow my mind to wander back
To a place so long ago
I can almost feel your gentle lips graze mine
Our fingers once again intertwined
God, I miss you

How could I have been so blind, so foolish?
I let you go without a fight
Never thinking twice about the joy I was allowing to slip through my fingers

If only I knew what I was giving up
Things would be so different
Love would envelop me instead of this heartache
I only have myself to blame
Forgiveness is something I will never allow

Wow, simply Wow. I'm impressed once again.  This poem speaks volumes.

The first stanza immediately draws you in and then it just keeps getting better.  Definitely, the heartache and regret is what I got out of it.

Heartbreak sucks...and Thank goodness for poetry, right?

This made me think of a situation I had. It made me wonder if the person ever felt the same way.

I liked this. It reminded me . . .
