All right, one of my all time favorites, The Hobbit is probably one of the best books I have ever read in my life. J. R. R. Tolkien was an extremely brilliant man, who, if he were not dead, I would like to meet.
How many other Hobbit/ Lord of the Rings fans out there? I know you all have read them, right? Tell me you've all read them! _________________ I'll walk hand and hand with my faith, step for step with my beliefs, and never fear the path unknown.

I like Lord of the Rings better. The Hobbit seems to move slower and revolves much on the affairs of dwarves. J. R. R. Tolkien was a brilliant man though, and a great storyteller. _________________ “I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.” -- Robert McCloskey

'The Hobbit' was actually the first book I ever tried to read by him. It was a Christmas present.
I didn't like it any more than I liked Lord of the Rings, and that's all I'm going to say so that I don't get eaten lol _________________ "It's waiting for me... Here I am!"

I'm not much of a fantasy fan. I mean I'll read them, but it's not my favorite genre, just because it can get so confusing. But I did read the Hobbit and I really liked it. I haven't read the LOR trilogy, but I do want to read them. _________________ "Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor." - Proverbs 21:21

Anna . . . what can I say to you. You are one depressing child. How can you not like The Hobbit? That . . . I can't even speak.
Cindy: You should try LotR. I don't really know if you would like them, because he does meander along a rather long path, but they are superb!
Aaron: I have to disagree with you. I think the LotR went much slower than The Hobbit. Both are wonderful. And I agree, JRRT was a brilliant man. _________________ I'll walk hand and hand with my faith, step for step with my beliefs, and never fear the path unknown.

Yay, Tyler's silent
I think I'll just jump out of this thread now and leave it to the people who want to discuss. Have fun... _________________ "It's waiting for me... Here I am!"

I have to agree with Anna...the Hobbit sucked. Majorly.
I distinctly remember wanting to rip my eyeballs out when it went on and on and on about the amazingly shiney door knob and the hobbits incredibly hairy feet.
Ick.
As for LOTR...I haven't bothered. *shrug* Sorry Tyler. _________________ "I like baseball, movies, good clothes, fast cars and you. What else do ya need to know?" -John Dillinger

Oi... The Hobbit. I'm with Maggie, I had to force my way through every page of that book. But then again, I read it a few years ago, so my tastes might have changed. I think the books I liked back then were pretty bad. I was thinking of giving Tolkein another try and reading the first Lord of the Rings book though...
