If you haven't heard of it, you must be living under a rock, because it's been extremely popular lately. But, if you *haven't* heard of it, it's by Sara Gruen. It's a story about the circus. The main character's, Jacob Janowski's, parents die in a car crash just before he's about to graduate from Cornell to be a vet.
When his parents die they leave him a pile of debt and he doesn't know what to do about it. So, in a panic..., he leaves and accidently jumps on a circus' train. In the circus he meetsa bunch of really interesting characters. Every other chapter is also Jacob's point of view from a nursing home 70ish years later.
Best book I've read in a long, long time. Read it! _________________ "I like baseball, movies, good clothes, fast cars and you. What else do ya need to know?" -John Dillinger

Well I'm living under a rock then. ;P
but I like my rock. It's comfy. ;D
I can already tell it would annoy me.. why doesn't he just finish school and become a vet if he was about to graduate? _________________ “I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.” -- Robert McCloskey

Haha. I agree with Aaron. It would have made more sense if after becoming a vet he decided he didn't like it and THEN went to the circus.

You guys both suck, did you see the "in a panic" part? Panic is generally not logical
I must live under a rock too.
On the other hand...it doesn't sound that awesome. I guess it could be, if it was written well, but such books often aren't. >_< _________________ "It's waiting for me... Here I am!"

Wow, wow, wow, dudes. Don't blame me for describing the story suckishly. The books seriously great though. And alot less...cliched/sappy? I guess than what I made it sound like.
Aaron- I have a copy that I'm supposed to pass along to spread reading to people...Do you want it? _________________ "I like baseball, movies, good clothes, fast cars and you. What else do ya need to know?" -John Dillinger

Gees, if you're going to make fun of the plot, at least read the book first! I thought this book was pretty good. It was rather dry in some parts (it kind of dragged in some descriptions and stuff) but I loved the characters and the plot. I don't really have anything else to say though...

Sure, although I can't say how long it will take me. I only read about a book a semester that wasn't for a class last year. I guess I have to so I can get permission to make fun of the plot. ;D
