I love books. Who doesn't? I love being around books. I love reading books and I don't think I have read enough books. Here are my top books in no particular order because I just can't put them in order, but if you can put your top books in order then by all means do.
-Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - I love the series, but the fifth book stands out the most because it was the first book I actually bought and read in a matter of two days. It really sets the tone for the upcoming books.
-To Kill A Mockingbird - it's a classic. it's full of innocence and it really gives an in depth look at how society in the South was back in those days and really Atticus is such a good role model.
-The Diary of Anne Frank - I read this book in 8th grade and I loved it so much that I went out and bought it and read it all over again.
-The Da Vinci Code - The movie confused me when I saw it, so it led me to buy the book so I could understand it better. Besides, it's a known fact that books are always going to be better than what Hollywood puts out. It's an amazing book and controversial, which makes it even better.
-Catcher in the Rye - Another classic I truly enjoyed. I think it's definitely my favorite.
-White Teeth- It's the first adult book I've read. It has it all as far as opening up to other cultures and backgrounds goes and it's hilarious.
-The Chronicles of Narnia - I got this book as a graduation present from my friend Angie and I immediately fell in love with it as soon as I started reading it. It's a classic and I love classics.

This is a great idea Cindy! I love books as well, especially fantasy because of the different worlds you get to go to. Books allow you to escape everyday life for a few hours at a time. They let you forget your problems and focus on the characters' problems. This is my list, in no particular order, of books that I deem worthy of reading over and over again.
Powers Let Be By: Elizabeth Zuckerman - This book is hilarious! It focuses on three characters. These 3 characters must set out on a quest to end their worlds all to predictable state and to destroy the Codex, a mysterious book that has ruled their land for 300 years. The book is basically satirizing all the very common elements of fantasy. I know the author so I was able to get a signed copy that is now close to losing its binding I've read it so many times.
Lord of the Rings By: J. R. R. Tolkien - These books are amazing. I love how descriptive Tolkien is and how developed the world is. You literally are taken into this new place that is similar to our world but is so much different. I think that every one should read this trilogy at least once! At the very least every one should read The Fellowship of the Ring.
Harry Potter By: J. K. Rowling - I really can't choose between the 6 books that are out at the moment (July 22 here I come). This place of magic and intrigue only leaves you wanting more, needing more. I have read all the books at least 5 times a piece. A little obsessed? Yeah, but Sorcerer's Stone was the book that inspired me to become a writer. I think I have very fond feelings toward that book. If I had never found it, I wouldn't be here on the site.
A Game of Thrones By: George R. R. Martin - I can't say how much I enjoyed this book. The world is as developed as Tolkien's, but the characters are so much more alive. They make you feel for them more than any character has a right too. They give life to the story. I am highly addicted to this series (A Song of Ice and Fire - this is the first book)
Chronicles of NarniaBy: C. S. Lewis - Again, I'm afraid I can't pick between the seven novels that make up this series. I think my fondest feelings would be toward The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I read it in 5th grade with my class, and then watched the horrible movie that was out at that time (the new one being much better), and could not stop reading the series. They inspired the novel I'm working on at the moment actually. So they are very important to me. _________________ I'll walk hand and hand with my faith, step for step with my beliefs, and never fear the path unknown.

I read anything really. I like books that have to do with history. Those I can read anytime. Mine arent in order either.
Night by Elie Wiesel: it's a holacaust book about the author being in the concentrantion camps during World War II.
The Bible: it's a book everyone should read at one point in their lives. My parents are religious and I grew up going to bible studies and reading at least a chapter everyday before bed.
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck: Read this book junior year. Set during the Great Depression, it's something to look into the struggles of two men just trying to find work in California.
Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss: It's probably the first book I ever read on my own and after that my parents bought me the entire Dr. Seuss collection.
The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien: Set during the Vietnam war, it's a book about the things soldiers carried during the war and the meaning behind it. People should really read this book.
Harry Potter by JK Rowling: I wasnt a fan of the books; I never got the hype around these books until, as a matter of fact, Cindy encouraged me to give them a chance. That was 2 years ago when the 6th book came out that I started with the 1st book and I was hooked. _________________

I am one dimensional guys and it is so sad. I feel embarrased and dumb because you guys have read many different books that you have enjoyed, but okay, here I go.
Harry Potter are really the only books that I have read over and over and that I have enjoyed. They are my favorite and I can not get enough of them. when I was little I hated reading anything and then I started reading the first book and I really loved it and the rest of the series. _________________ SAVE INKBEARERS |

I read pretty much anything, and my top books are constantly changing... Here are the ones that are top at the moment though:
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer - I love this book even though it's not something I'd usually read... a girl falls in love with a vampire. But, it's basically a really sweet romance novel and it's made interesting-er by the guy being a vampire.
Dragonlinks by Paul Collins - I've just recently read this book and I thought it was interesting... I love how there's an entire world and you get to know the characters even though they're really "heroic" people. And they argue so much between each other and stuff. It's another "quest" type book, which can be boring, but this one is done pretty well.
The Merlin Conspiracy by Diana Wynne Jones - I love this book. The characters are believable and the world they live in is believable and the way the story is told is interesting. What else could you want?
Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah - An autobiography of a girl who grew up in China and was treated badly and an outcast from her family. It tells what happened to her, and ends with her achieving her dream mainly due to the inspiration of her grandfather. It's an awesome book.
Ender Series by Orson Scott Card - One of my friends gave me the first one in this series and I loved it. Since then, I've bought all the other ones in the series and I'm looking out for the first one in the next series (but for some reason, by bookshop doesn't HAVE IT...I'm going to check the library next time I go). It tells the story of Ender Wiggin and people in his life. In the first book, "Ender's Game" he gets taken from his parents when he's just a child and goes to "Battle School" where they train him to kill off the buggers, a supposed threat to humanity. One of my favourite science fiction books.
hmm I should have more...but I forget the titles and stuff. I love books <3 |

Hello Cindy, Tyler, Anna, Brittany, Eric- Your top books selection are intriguing.
I am a sucker for fantasy (my favorite genre). I can't get enough of them.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY is amazing. I love the world Tolkien created. He is, in my mind, the best author in history.
THE HOBBIT, another book by Tolkien, is the book that made me appreciate the fantasy genre. It is must read if you are planning on reading the trilogy.
THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA is the ultimate children's book. C.S. Lewis is a genius. I love that it is full of morals.
THE FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN is a must read. It's marvellous.
HARRY POTTER is just timeless.
THE ODYSSEY has everything to make it a classic of fantasy.
THE NOTEBOOK should be read by the hopeless romantic like me. It makes a girl believe that a Noah is in our destiny. If only every guy was like Noah then the world would be perfect.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, I know it is a dramatic play, but it has the fantasy qualities I just love.
I seriously could go on forever so I will stop here. |

I love saying my fav books!!
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman - this trilogy was so well thought out and it had so many genres captured at once... and ending made me cry < that is a mark of a good book to me
Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer - this again made me cry during the 4th book but for different reasons. These books are easy to read being in the 1st person, and so the reader gets to imagine themselves as the main character, and so basically having the hottest person/vampire in the world love them. This pretty much did it for me.
My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrel - this is a little (LOT) different to the others but it made me laugh so much and captured me with its detail about nature which I love.
The Confessions of Georgia Nicolson by Louise Rennison - if ever I'm feeling depressed or maybe just up for a laugh, these books always deliver. So funny and childish and little pointless stories that seem the world to you when you're reading.
To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee - captured me from the very first chapter and it was insight for me into so many different viewpoints about such a controversial topic. Fell in love with Scout as well of course... just loved it. Epic book.
and finally...
The Famous Five by Enid Blyton - the first books I ever read and maybe not the best, but they were my favourite thing ever when I was little. My life pretty much revolved around the books, and everything I did was related to them. Every child's dream.
